New Jersey VioxxTM Lawsuit Verdict: $4.5 Million
On April 6, 2006 a jury in Atlantic City, NJ awarded John McDarby $3 million in compesatory damages and his wife Irma, $1.5 million. The jury heard the case against Merck and found that they had not properly warned patients of the dangers of its drug Vioxx TM and that it had caused Mr. McDarby to have a heart attack. Mr. McDarby had taken the drug Vioxx TM, for four years. The jury will now determine whether Merck must pay punitive damages to Mr. and Mrs. McDarby.
